Dr. Utpala Kharod, former Dean of Pramukhswami Medical College, Karamsad has been appointed as Provost of Bhaikaka University. Dr. Harishkumar Desai, former Deputy Registrar of Charotar University of Science and Technology has taken charge as Registrar of the university.
Bhaikaka University was set up in September 2019 as per the Government of Gujarat, Education Department notification dated September 20. (The Gujarat Private Universities Amendment Act,2019 )The H M Patel Centre for Medical Care and Education, managed by the Charutar Arogya Mandal, has been conferred the status of a private University- Bhaikaka University with effect from September 25.
The Pramukhswami Medical College along with Shree Krishna Hospital, H M Patel Institute for Post Graduate Studies, K M Patel Institute of Physiotherapy, G H Patel School & College of Nursing, Smt L P Patel Institute of Medical Laboratory Technology, CAM Institute of Allied Health Sciences & Technology will be affiliated to the new Bhaikaka University. The new University is supported by Charutar Arogya Mandal, Karamsad established in 1971 working in the area of healthcare and education and was founded by the Late Dr. H M Patel, the former Finance and Home Minister of India.
With the experience of four decades in courses related to Health Professions Education, Medical Laboratory Technology, and Allied Health Science, with about 1300 students on the campus pursuing 57 different courses supported by more than 250 teachings and 1200 non-teaching staff. The H M Patel Centre for Medical Care and Education has been a centre of academic excellence. It has the necessary infrastructure for the academic and extracurricular development and growth of its students. It will work in the larger interests of society, to provide need-based educational programmes and contribute to the development of human resources for the health of the nation.
The Bhaikaka University will not only maintain all the existing educational programmes but would also initiate academic programmes in niche areas of medical specialties to provide job-oriented courses in a changing healthcare environment This recognition will help these institutes to introduce need-based courses to develop Human Resources for Health (HRH) in line with the vision of National Health Mission and bring about timely changes in course curriculum including assessment system. It also facilitates educational and research collaborations with institutions within India and abroad.
The orientation program of newly admitted students of Basic B.Sc. Nursing and DGNM was organized on January 9, 2021, at Lecture Hall, PSMC, Karamsad. Students and their parents were formally welcomed and introduced to the culture of the College, Campus, and University.
The orientation began with a brief inaugural ceremony and welcome speech by Principal, Mrs. Raksha Parmar. Chief Guest, Dr. Utpala Kharod, Provost, Bhaikaka University addressed the new disciples and introduced them to Bhaikaka University. She motivated the students to give their best to the noble profession.
The students were oriented to various aspects of the programme such as the scope of the profession, regulations related to college, hostel, clinic, and examination by concerned faculty. Students were also informed about various committees available for their welfare. All departed by enjoying the delicious lunch.
Shri G H Patel School & College Of Nursing celebrated Christmas, organized by SNA & Co-Curricular committee on December, 28th 2021 by holding various competitions viz Christmas OR New Year Card Making, Christmas Tree making, and Western Attire. Mr. Silambarasan A, critical care educator, SKH, Ms. Reshma D Ramanuj, vertical head of the cardiac centre, SKH, Ms. Dipti Engineer, and senior staff nurse of the oncology department were invited as judges. All the students participated enthusiastically in each and every competition. Judges appreciated the performance and hard work of the students. winner of each competition was declared by judges. Moreover, Christmas meet & Garba were held followed by delicious refreshments. At last, Ms. Raksha Parmar Principal, GHPCON delivered the vote of thanks to the judges, all the students, participants, winners, and faculty members for the successful completion of the event.
Christmas celebration was organized on 23rd December 2020 by the SNA & CO- Curricular committee. The celebration started at 10:00 am with the bible reading by Ms. Anna Rao followed by carol singing by faculties. Mrs. Grishma Christian, In charge of General OT (Shree Krishna Hospital), delivered a Christmas message. Facebook live streaming of the Christmas celebration was done for the students to attend the function virtually. The function ended with a vote of thanks delivered by Ms. Shiney Christy. Furthermore, the secret Santa reveal was held for the faculties followed by Refreshment. Programme was successfully completed with the support and guidance of Mrs. Raksha Parmar, Principal, Shri G. H. Patel College of nursing.
The organization of an exhibition on the newborn week celebration, demonstration of breastfeeding techniques, and screening of newborns was done from November 15 to November 20 by Ty BSc and fourth-year BSc nursing students. It was initiated with an introduction related to the celebration and followed by the inauguration ceremony. The beneficiaries were antenatal, postnatal, and eligible couples. The total number of participants was 40 each day. Live demonstrations of KMC and mummy restraint and breastfeeding techniques were taught to the beneficiaries. Feedback was taken. It was highly appreciated by the health professionals.
The farewell program of 3 rd batch of Basic B.Sc. Nursing and the 37th batch of DGNM was organized on December 29, 2020, at the academic auditorium, Bhaikaka University, Karamsad. The program was started by welcoming Internship students with flowers followed by an invocation and Lamp lighting. Internship students of B.Sc. and DGNM shared the beautiful moments of their journey at G.H.Patel School and College of Nursing. The students were presented with a photo frame of their batch as a token of love. Principal, Mrs. Raksha Parmar, Class coordinators Ms.Vandana Shrimali and Ms. Swati Jadav addressed the students and wished them a bright future. Ms.Charmi D. Patel from B.Sc Nursing and Ms.Nikita Thakor from DGNM was awarded as best outgoing students. To add fun, various games were arranged for the students. The programme ended with a vote of thanks and the national anthem. All departed by enjoying the delicious lunch.
Shri G.H. Patel School & College of Nursing celebrated World Diabetes Day on November 11th, 2021. The theme of the day is “ACCESS TO DIABETES CARE”. On this day an expert session was organized by the Medical-Surgical Nursing Department & the guest speaker was Dr. Punam Bhende, Assistant Professor, PSMC. She was enlightened regarding diabetic foot examination. Introduction & Vote of thanks delivered by Ms. Rachana Chauhan. The beneficiaries were the students of TYB.SC. Nursing, Final year B.sc Nursing & TYDGNM interns. A total number of participants was 55. The session was completed successfully.

Patel School and College of Nursing, a constitute of Bhaikaka University observed "World Mental Health Day" on October 10, 2020, by organizing a webinar on ‘Mental Health for all, Greater Investment - Greater Access’ by the Department of Mental Health Nursing. Eminent speakers of the day were Dr. Himanshu Sharma, HOD, Department of Psychiatry, Shree Krishna Hospital, Karamsad, and Dr. Ankur Mahida, Clinical Psychologist, SKH. They have enlightened the participants with their knowledge of the current scenario of COVID-19, its effects on mental health, and measures to build positive mental health. Students from TY B.Sc Nursing and SY GNM benefited from the session. Students also participated in various theme-based activities such as theme-based videos, doodle art, and posters.

Faculty and students of T.Y.BSc Nursing of Shri G.H Patel School and College of Nursing (A Constituent of Bhaikaka University) celebrated World’s Mental Health Day 2021 on 11th, October 2021 in collaboration with the Psychiatric Department of PSMC. The event started with prayer and lamp lighting and welcoming the guests. Professors Dr. Himanshu Sharma and Dr. Ankur Mahida were the guests at the celebration.
Dr. Himanshu Sharma enlightened regarding the theme of this year ’Mental health in an unequal world’ and described the effects of 2nd wave of covid and its effects on the financial aspects of individuals and hence leading to depression was followed by Dr. Ankur Mahida focussed on stigmas and discrimination related to mental health and proper treatment to be given irrespective any aspects. Highlighted Rich becomes rich and the poor become poor. The beneficiaries were T.YBSc and FYGNM students. Students performed role plays, dance, and video and poster showcases reflecting the slogan of this year. “Mental health for all let's make it a reality”. In the end, Ms. Tejal Virola delivered the vote of thanks. The total number of participants was 74. The winner of the poster competition is Ms.Krisha Patel T.Y.BSc Nursing. The event was a great success!!
Sensitization session on Importance of Iron Folic Acid Tablet
Women Development Unit of Institute of Nursing Sciences and Shri G.H. Patel School of Nursing has organized Sensitization session on "Importance of Iron Folic Acid Tablet on 30th December, 2022. The talk was arranged to sensitize the students and faculty regarding anemia and its prevention in regards to starting IFA tablet project for faculty and students of INS and GHPSN. The resource person, Dr. Manisha Gohel (Professor, Community Medicine Department, Pramukh Swami Medical College) has sensitized regarding anemia, National Iron Plus Initiative Programme. She illustrated nutritional anemia, prevalence of anemia and diet modification. She explained the benefit of Iron folic acid tablet on health. She motivated students to take Iron folic acid tablet as prophylaxis. Total 129 students and 10 faculty were sensitized through this session. The programme was ended with the vote of thanks. Students and faculty has given feedback that the session was interactive and effective and also they mentioned that overall the session was excellent and looking forward for positive outcome.

Integrated Management of Neonatal and Childhood Illness training was organized for Third Year Basic B.Sc. Nursing and Second Year Diploma in General Nursing Midwifery of Shri G.H Patel School and College of Nursing. The training was for 3 consecutive days August 18, 2021- August 20, 2021, from 8 am to 5 pm. The training started with an introduction given by Mrs. Nila Darji. The facilitators for the training were Mrs. Princey Mol and Mrs. Deepika Das. The training focused on the various objectives to prevent illness, promote the health of the child under 5 years of age, identify the symptoms and classify the child, and provide treatment according to the classification. Then it proceeded with explaining the integrated management of 0-2 months children regarding bacterial infection, diarrhea, dehydration, and various problems in breastfeeding by frequently giving examples, and by showing videos as per the training module of IMNCI. Students have done role play on assessment of children as per given scenario and further integrated management of children with the age of 2 months to 5 years old regarding fever with a stiff neck, malnutrition, anemia, and immunization. Scenario-based exercises and pictures were given to students for comparing the color code identification for its classification, assessment, and management. The quiz was conducted for students and all participated enthusiastically. Lastly, feedback was taken from the students. The training was completed successfully.
On December 23, 2022, the Nursing Institute celebrated Christmas by holding various competitions, including Christmas or New Year card making, Christmas tree making, and a western attire competition. Ms. Apexa Vaghela and Ms. Anna Rao, Ms. Shany Thomas and Ms. Nilofar Rathod, Ms. Purvi Shah and Ms. Rozleen Parmar, Ms. Kamini Thakkar, and Ms. Princey Mol were the judges for this competition. Every competition was enthusiastically attended by all of the students. The judges praised the students' efforts and hard work. The judges declared the winners of each competition, and the garba and dance were followed by mouthwatering refreshments. There was also carol singing (Christmas songs) and a small skit performed by the Union of Evangelical Students of India. Last but not least, an eye-catching, thunderous Santa Claus conclusion.
Shri G. H. Patel School and College of Nursing celebrated World Diabetes day-2020 by hosting a webinar on the theme ‘Diabetes: Nurses make the difference on November 20-21, 2020. The programme was organized by the Department of Medical-Surgical Nursing, GHPSCN in collaboration with the Department of Medicine, Shree Krishna Hospital, Karmsad.
DAY-1: The webinar started on November 20 at 03:30 pm with the first session by Mrs. Nila Darji unfolding the theme. The second session was delivered by Dr. Jyoti Mannari and Dr. Punam Bhende on Self monitoring blood glucose levels, the Role of diet and exercise, and Care for diabetes complications. Both sessions were quite interactive and informative. A total of 110 participants joined the sessions through Zoom and live Streaming on YouTube.
DAY 2: The first session on this day was by Ms. Nikita Chauhan on Nursing assessment, Nursing diagnosis, and intervention in diabetes care followed by Mrs. Anna Rao on Palliative care in diabetes. The last session was delivered by Dr. Jyoti Mannari and Dr. Punam Bhende on Insulin and devices for insulin administration and diabetic foot care. 157 participants attended the session.
An inter-collegiate essay competition was also held on the theme “Diabetes: Nurses make the difference”. Students from across Anand District participated in the competition. Participants were appreciated for providing E-Certificates.

Shri G.H. Patel School & College of Nursing, Bhaikaka University has organized the Nutrition Practical for F.Y. GNM & F.Y. B.Sc. Nursing students as a part of their theoretical knowledge execution in practice. The event was organized from 09/8/2021 to 11/08/2021, Time: 8 am to 1 pm, and Organized by Mrs. Ekta H. Patel, Ms. Renkina Macwan, and Mrs. Swati Jadav. The objectives of the program are to introduce the nursing student to clinical dietary and nutritional principles, make students understand the role of nutrition for proper growth and development as well as maintenance of health, prepare a balanced diet preserving all the nutrients in the food following cookery principles, prepare the therapeutic diet for different age groups and with different disease conditions, prepare and serve simple yet different types of food. On each day 2 groups prepared the recipes and presented them at the end. 8:00 am to 12:00 pm preparation time for the allotted recipe. 2:00 pm to 1:00 pm presentation of recipes for the nutritional values, the cooking method used during preparation, and methods of nutrient preservation. Day-1 students prepared beetroot thepla in mixed flour, raagi sukhadi, Mix veg chilla in mixed flour, and Fada laapsi. Day 2 students prepared bottle gourd muthia, sprouts salad, veg. upama, kuler, shallow fried brinjal. Day -3 students prepared chicken soup, chicken biryani, vegetable salad, egg salad, egg bhurji, and paratha. The session was completed successfully.
Mental Health Day Celebration 2022, Theme: “Make mental health and well-being for all a global priority”
Mental Health Nursing Department of the Institute of Nursing Sciences (INS) and Shri G. H. Patel School of Nursing (GHPSN) Karamsad (Constituent of Bhaikaka University) organized a Role Play in various Schools of Anand on 11th October 2022. The celebration was on the theme of “Make mental health and well-being for all a global priority”. The 25 students of second-year B.Sc Nursing and 3 students of second-year M.Sc Nursing participated in the role play to sensitize the adolescence about the significance of mental health and ways to be mentally healthy. Nearly 400 primary and secondary grade students got benefited from the role play.
The nursing students performed the role play at four different institutions namely M.U Patel Technical School at Vallabh Vidhyanagar, M.S Mistri Primary School at Vallabh Vidhyanagar, G.J Shardamandir Primary School at Vallabh Vidhyanagar and Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel School at Karamsad. The students of the school were motivated and understood the importance of mental health. All the principals of schools appreciated the efforts and work of nursing students and secondary-grade students learn about the ways to cope with mental issues.
Postgraduate students of Shri G.H.Patel School and College of Nursing, a constitute of Bhaikaka University held 2 days Vocational Guidance Program under the guidance of Mrs. Raksha Parmar, Principal, GHPSCN on 10th and 11th August 2021 at 11 am to 1 pm for internships students of B. Sc. Nursing and GNM. The webinar was held through the Zoom platform. The theme of VGP was “ Career opportunities after Nursing and Professionalism”. Internship students of B. Sc. Nursing and GNM of various institutions across Gujarat were invited to attend the VGP.
On the first day, Alumni of KAA, Mrs.Vrutti Patel, Asst. Professor of Sumandeep College of Nursing and Ms.Bhavisha Patel, RPN in Canada were invited to share their expert knowledge in the areas of ‘Scope of Nursing Nationally and Internationally. Ms.Bharti Bhatt, MSN, BSN, RN from Jupiter Academy imparted information regarding the scope and process of nursing jobs in the USA, Australia, and the UK. All these sessions were very informative and interactive. A total of 93 people attended the sessions on the first day. The first day ended with a vote of thanks, delivered by Mrs.Darshana Suthar, Nursing Tutor.
On the second day, Mr.Nigam Madan, HR Manager, BU Karamsad conducted very important sessions viz Professional Communication, IPR Skill, Interview Technique, and Resume Preparation. Prof. Shailesh Panchal, Vice Principal cum Professor, GHPSCN conducted a session on the importance of professional memberships in the professional carrier and its process of registration. A total of 80 people attended the sessions on the second day. The second day ended with a vote of thanks, delivered by Ms.Sharon Raj, Nursing Tutor, and received feedback from the participants.
Institute of Nursing Sciences and Shri G.H.Patel School of Nursing, Bhaikaka University, Karamsad has organized a farewell ceremony for the 40th batch of DGNM & 5th batch of B.Sc. Nursing on October 4th, 2022 at Bhikhabhai auditorium, Bhaikaka University, Karamsad.
The function was graced by the dignitaries Dr. P. Harihara (Principal, KMPIP) and Ms. Kuldeep Kaur Judge (Chief Nursing Officer, SKH).
Ms. Nila Darji welcomed all on behalf of the institute. Mr. Shailesh Panchal, Principal, of the Institute of Nursing sciences, and Shri G.H.Patel School of Nursing motivated students for their bright and prosperous future. A total of 61 students from the outgoing batch participated. Kadambari alumni association provided a group photo frame as a token of love to all outgoing students.
The best student of the batch DGNM 2019-2022 Ms. Sanofer Kureshi and BSC Nursing batch 2018-2022 Ms. Vidhi Patel awarded the trophy. The vote of thanks was delivered by Ms. Anna Rao.

Internship Nursing students (final year B.Sc nursing) of Shri G. H. Patel College of Nursing organized two days webinar on “Nursing management in COVID-19 at various points” for staff nurses on 27th and 28th July 2020 from 10 am to 12 pm under the guidance of Mrs. Raksha Parmar (Principal) and Ms. Disha Anjana (Tutor) as part of academic activity under subject Management of Nursing Services and Education. The topics covered were Pregnancy, childbirth postnatal care during COVID-19, Home care for people with suspected or confirm COVID-19, Infection prevention and control during health care when COVID-19 is suspected or confirmed, and care of pediatric patients, and breastfeeding during COVID-19. More than 40 staff nurses across the Anand district benefited from the session and clarified their queries.

Patel School of Nursing (GHPSN), constitutes of Bhaikaka University held two days Vocational Guidance Program for 70 students of the internship batch of B.Sc. Nursing and DGNM on 27th and 28th September 2022 from 9:00 am to 5:00 pm at Bhikhabhai Auditorium, Bhaikaka University, Karamsad.
On the first day, Mr. Akshay Menga, Manager, Nilkanth Academy, Anand was invited to deliver a lecture on Preparation for NCLEX RN, IELTS, and TOFEL followed by Mr. Nigam Madan, HR Manager, Bhaikaka University conducted very important sessions on resume preparation, professional etiquettes, and preparation for an interview. Later, Mrs. Nilofer Rathod, Nursing Educator, Shree Krishna Hospital, Karamsad imparted information regarding the scope of Nursing in the clinical field lastly Mr. Nirav Agrawal, Director, SI Consulting, Vadodara gave information regarding opportunities for Nurses in Germany.
On the second day, Mrs. Princey Mol Raju, Assistant Professor, INS and GHPSN, Bhaikaka University, Karamsad conducted a session on the scopes of nursing in education after that, Mrs. Ekta H. Patel, Assistant Professor, INS and GHPSN, Bhaikaka University, Karamsad took a lecture on Gujarat Nursing Council (GNC) registration process, later on, Mrs. Anna Rao delivered information regarding Kadambari Alumni Association Membership and Benefits and the final session was conducted by S.Y. M.Sc. Nursing students on Professional body Membership such as SOMI, NRSI, and TNAI. All the sessions were very informative and interactive. The program ended with a vote of thanks, delivered by Mrs. Darshna Suthar, Tutor, INS & GHPSN.
Participants gave positive feedback about the program which the majority of students rated highest in the program organization and time management.

The topics covered were professional ethics and legality in nursing, the scope of nursing in India and abroad, the importance of professionalism, the need for professional membership, and interview techniques and preparation, which enable the interns to explore the world of choices available for making their careers. More than 60interns across the Anand district benefited from the sessions and clarified their queries with the experts.
A Department of Child Health Nursing of Shri G.H Patel School and College of Nursing (a constituent of Bhaikaka University) organized World's Breast Feeding week for 2 days August 2, 2021, & August 3, 2021, under the guidance of Principal Mrs. Raksha Parmar. Students of T.Y.BSc and SYDGNM Nursing students sensitized a total of 65 people regarding Breastfeeding, its technique, the mother’s preparation, importance to mother and baby, and IMS act and concerns through beautiful poster exhibitions and skits. All the activities are highly appreciated by participants, PHC staff, and Shree Krishna Hospital staff.
On the 12th and 13th of July 2022, the IQAC (IQAC-INS) of the Institute of Nursing Sciences and Shri G H Patel School of Nursing (Constituent of Bhaikaka University) hosted a two-day Faculty Development Programme on “Soft Skills for Nursing Professionals”. The FDP was designed to foster the personal, professional, and human relation skills of faculty thereby enhancing their career prospects. Experts from Bhaikaka University led the sessions.
The highlights of the FDP were Digital tools in teaching and research, professionalism and professional ethics, Heartful communication, and Time management addressed by Dr. Somasekhar Nimbalkar (HOD, Neonatology, Associate Dean - Research services, Bhaikaka University), Dr. Himanshu Pandya ( Dean, PSMC, Bhaikaka University), Mr. Suresh Rajagopalan ( General manager- Human Resource, Bhaikaka University) and Mr. Nigam Madan (Manager- Human Resource, Bhaikaka University). The Adult Health Nursing Department of the Institute of Nursing Sciences and Shri G H Patel School of Nursing ( Constituent of Bhaikaka University) organized a workshop on skill enhancement in cardio-Respiratory monitoring and care on 6th July 2022. The workshop was intended to facilitate faculty and PG students with the required skills and up-to-date knowledge in the monitoring and care of patients with varying cardiopulmonary problems, enabling them to provide an effective learning experience to the students. Experts from Bhanubhai and Madhuben Patel Cardiac Centre, Shree Krishna Hospital led the workshop.
The workshop's highlights included ECG interpretation, Intra Aortic Balloon Pumping, Hemodynamic Monitoring, Cardiac Rehabilitation, and Ventilator management, which were addressed by Dr. Sunil Karna (Interventional Cardiologist), Dr. Manish Tiwari (Cardiac Surgeon), Dr. Gurupreet Panesar (Cardiac Anesthetist), Dr. Kartik Dhami (Cardiac Anesthetist) and Dr. Kunal Soni (Consultant Cardiac Anesthetist). All participants had a great learning experience.
Plastic bag free day celebration: 2021, Theme: Refuse, Reduce, Reuse and recycle plastic bags.
Community Health Nursing Department of the Institute of Nursing Sciences (INS) and Shri G.H Patel School (GHPSN) Karamsad ( A constituent of Bhaikaka University)has organized a photo frame competition by using plastic waste and making eco-friendly bricks and paper bags as a part of the celebration of Plastic bag free day on June 30, 2022.
The celebration was on the theme of ‘Refuse, Reduce, Reuse and Recycle plastic bag'. All nursing students participated in paper bag-making activities in which 126 paper bags were prepared and 65 eco-friendly bricks erw formed very enthusiastically which can be used by Bhaikaka University functions. On top of that, Miss. Hiral Thakor of GHPSN and Miss. Nishika Patel of INS achieved 1st and 2nd rank respectively which were judged by faculties of INS and GHPSN Miss. Vaishakhi Thakkar and Miss Swizel Rana and the celebration ended with the handover of certificates and thank notes to all.
The WDC Unit of Shri G.H. Patel School and College of Nursing celebrated International Yoga Day 2021 on the theme: “BE WITH YOGA, BE AT HOME” from June 21, 2021, to June 26, 2021, as ‘YOGA WEEK’. Yoga sessions were conducted by the nursing faculty and students during the mentioned period. Faculty performed yoga every day in the morning for 45 minutes from 9:00 am to 9:45 am following the video released by the Ministry of Ayush Dept of India.
A total of 10 faculty participated in a yoga session, held by Bhaikaka University on June 21, 2021, at the Badminton court. During that session, Ms. Shivani Patel, a student of S.Y.BSc nursing, also performed various difficult postures of yoga which was very impressive.
A total of 30 students and 8 faculty practiced yoga daily for a week in college settings.
A total of 40 students demonstrated Yoga and its benefits at various places viz. Mental hospital Vadodara, CHC Ras, Karamsad PHC, and Nursing College. A total number of 61 people attended a yoga session during this week.
A few simple asanas and pranayama were selected to demonstrate which were performed by students at various
clinical settings after the one-day induction training provided by Ms. Shivani Patel.

The faculty of FY B.Sc. Nursing & FYDGNM, Institute of Nursing Sciences, and Shri G.H. Patel School of Nursing (Constitute of Bhaikaka University) celebrated world environment day on 4th June 2022. The theme for 2022 was “ONLY ONE EARTH”. An institute-wide cleanliness drive kicked off the celebration. As part of this day's activities, the institute held various competitions like vertical gardening, pot making, hanging planter making, and stem painting. A total of 26 students participated enthusiastically in the competitions. Dr. Sonal Chitorda from L.P. Patel Institute of Medical Laboratory Technology was invited as a judge for the competitions. The winners of various activities were rewarded with prizes and certificates.
The 'Lamp Lighting & Oath Taking Ceremony' is an auspicious ceremony in the lives of nurses. Nursing students take an oath of allegiance to nurse profession in their first year all over the world. The Institute of Nursing Sciences and Shri G.H. Patel School of Nursing (Constituent of Bhaikaka University) organized an oath-taking ceremony on May 12, 2022, for the 8th batch of B.Sc. Nursing and 42nd batch of Diploma General Nursing.
The function was graced and blessed by dignitaries viz Chief Guest Smt. Manisha Modi (Associate Professor, AMC-MET Nursing College, Ahemdabad), Guests of Honor Smt. Reshma Ramanuj (Assistant Matron, SKH, Karamsad), and officials of Bhaikaka University. A total of 65 first-year students recited the pledge under the guidance of Prof. Shailesh Panchal (Principal, INS & GHPSN) followed by the ignition of candles by dignitaries. Later, the students dedicated Nurse's Song as a tribute to Ms. Florence Nightingale who is also known as the founder of modern nursing. Furthermore, dignitaries presented medals and certificates to all academic achievers and winners of extracurricular competitions. The ceremony concluded with a vote of thanks and a national anthem.
IQAC committee of Shri G H Patel School and College of Nursing, A constituent of Bhaikaka University, Karamsad celebrated world environment day by organizing a student panel discussion on the theme: Ecosystem restoration between 9 a.m. to 11 a.m. through Zoom platform. Students of F.Y. B.Sc. Prayerson Parmar and Hemanshi Patel, S.Y.B.Sc. Drashti Patel and Ruhi Patel and FYDGNM Aatish Parmar and Tulsi Ghelotar enthusiastically participated as panelists in this event and shared valuable information on restoring the ecosystem by imparting knowledge on various measures to make the home environment healthy, the impact of improper disposal of sanitary pads, PPE Kit affecting the environment, issues on addressing losing access of fertile soil and safe drinking water, local level awareness on ecological restoration, effect on health topics like Conservation of the ecosystem, Pollution affecting the ecosystem, Measures to control the pollution, resetting the relationship with the environment. Institute also arranged various competitions like “Best out of Waste (recycling and reusable material)” and making “Bird Houses”, students wholeheartedly participated in these competitions and displayed their very creative nature in restoring the ecosystem through various ideas. The event ended by announcing the winners of this competition by Mr.Shailesh Panchal.
Adult Health Nursing Department of the Institute of Nursing Sciences and Shri G. H Patel school of Nursing celebrated "World Hypertension Day" on 17th & 18th May 2022. The theme for 2022 was "Measure your Blood Pressure Accurately, Control it, and Live longer". In accordance with the theme of screening for Hypertension and an exhibition was organized at Rural Health Center, Bhadran in collaboration with PHC Bhadran and at Urban Health center Petlad on 17th and 18th May 2022 Respectively. A total of 113 people from the Rural and Urban center took benefit of the programme and gave positive feedback.
The “SENSITIZATION PROGRAM ON SELF-DEFENCE” was organized on 1st March 2021 to 6th March 2021 by IQAC and the WDC unit of Shri G. H. Patel Schools and College of Nursing.
The inaugural session was held on 1st March 2021 Dr. Pragya Nair WDC-Convener was the guest of Honour. The program was inaugurated with lamp lighting by Dr. Pragya Nair Convener-WDC, Dr. Mainisha Gohel, Vice president- PramukhSwami Alumni Association and Member- WDC-BU, Mrs. Raksha Parmar Principal & member-WDC, Mr. Shailesh Panchal IQAC Coordinator and student representatives of each batch.
Following the inauguration, Dr. Pragya Nair – convener of WDC addressed the gathering that how self-defense (with their tips and tricks) is important for girl students and Its importance and how it helps women employees and girls students in their development.
At the end of the inaugural session, Ms. Renkina conveyed a vote of thanks to Dr. Pragya Nair – convener of WDC, and all respected WDC- members for their valuable presence and support.
The whole program was run for one week. All the girl's students of F.Y. M.Sc. Nursing, F.Y. BSc. Nursing, S.Y. B.Sc. Nursing, T.Y. B.Sc. Nursing, F.Y DGNM, and S.Y. DGNM were divided into 3 groups due to covid-19 guidelines. A total of 136 girls students participated enthusiastically.
Two hours for two days were allotted to each batch. Every first day of the session students was sensitized about self-defense- definition, importance, and various strategies by Ms. Renkina Macwan. On the second day, an expert was invited from the activity centre Mr. Ajaykumar Damor. He demonstrated various tricks and basic moves of boxing.
Ms. Renkina conveyed a vote of thanks to Mr. Sanjay and Mr. Ajaykumar for sparing their valuable time to demonstrate tricks of self-defense for the girl's students.
On May 5, 2022, the Department of Obstetrics and Gynecological Nursing commemorated the International Day of Midwives. The department organized an Inter College Quiz Competition from 9 am to 1 pm at the H M Patel Academic Center, Bhaikaka University, Karamsad, with the theme "100 Years of Progress." The four teams competing in the Quiz Competition came from various nursing institutions. The event began with the lighting of lamps, followed by prayer. Ms. Vandana Shrimali subsequently gave a brief on the theme. The winners and runners-up were presented with trophies and certificates along with participation certificates for all students. The event came to a close with a vote of gratitude and delicious snacks.
Shri G.H. Patel School and College of Nursing ( A constituent of Bhaikaka University) celebrated lamp lighting and oath-taking ceremony for the 41st batch of DGNM and 7th Batch of B.Sc. Nursing students. The event was celebrated in the august presence of Dr. A.U. Patel, Advisor (Knowledge Consortium of Gujarat, Ahmedabad), Mrs. Vandana Dabhi, Principal of Urmila Goswami College of Nursing and esteemed member of Kadambari Alumni Association, Provost - Bhaikaka University - Dr. Utpala Kharod, Registrar - Bhaikaka University - Dr. Harish Desai, Dean - PSMC - Dr. Himanshu Pandya, Principal - KMPIP - Dr. Harihara Prakash, IAQC Co-ordinator Mr. Shailesh Panchal, Faculty, students and parents.
A total of 67 students took a pledge followed by the ignition of candles by the dignitaries. Oath swearing was done by students guided by the Principal, Mrs. Raksha Parmar. Later on, students sang a nurse song and paid tribute to Ms. Florence Nightingale – A pioneer of the nursing profession. Due to the COVID pandemic, the whole event was conducted in hybrid mode using the zoom platform and made it live through youtube streaming. A total of 369 viewed the ceremony through youtube and 20 invitees joined the session through the Zoom platform.
Mrs. Vandana Dabhi addressed and motivated students to be competent nurses as well as provide nursing care to all patients using 3 H i.e Head, Heart, Hand. She shared her experiences at GHPCN as a student, later as a staff nurse at SKH, and as a nursing tutor at GHPSN. She congratulated the novice trainee nurses.
Chief Guest Dr.A.U Patel advised the students to focus on health targets, and also on mastering skills related to the course. He stated that nurses have a leading role in society and they are responsible for the maintenance of the health of society. He emphasized following ethical values and virtues while practicing as they pledged. Furthermore, He congratulated and appreciated the institution and Bhaikaka university for imparting quality education in the field of health and motivated them to maintain the same.
Dr. Utpala Kharod delivered her preceding speech and motivated the nursing students to set their goals high and strive to achieve them. She also said that nurses are the most important members of the health care team and congratulated students for their professional beginnings.
Students were awarded for their best academic performances also.
Programme ended with the national anthem.
The Institute of Nursing Sciences and Shri G. H. Patel School of Nursing hosted an orientation program for first-year B.Sc. Nursing and DGNM students on April 30th, 2022. The program began with the lighting of lamps, which was followed by prayers. The program's guest was Dr. Utpala Kharod (Provost, Bhaikaka University). Dr. Kharod inspired the newly admitted students with his inspirational words. The following topics are covered by various faculty members: Introduction to Charutar Arogya Mandal and Bhaikaka University, Nursing Scope, Campus, Hostel, Examination Rules and Regulations, Anti-ragging Measures, and Mentoring Cell. The program comes to a close with a vote of thanks and a delicious lunch.
IQAC and WDC unit of Shri G.H Patel School and College of Nursing (A constituent of Bhaikaka University) conducted two days of orientation sessions on the Women Development Cell of Bhaikaka University through the zoom platform on August 1 & August 3, 2021, by Ms.Vandana Shrimali under guidance and support of Dr. Pragna Nair and Mrs. Raksha Parmar, members of WDC-BU. Beneficiaries were First-year DGNM, First Year BSc Nursing, Second Year BSc Nursing, Second Year DGNM, and faculty of GHSCN. A total of 135 participants attended the session. Women development cells, objectives, activities, the hierarchy for approaching if any problem arises, and members involved in this cell from constituent institutes, were the main attractions of the sessions. Faculty and students were given the opportunity to share their valuable suggestions for strengthening the WDC.
Department of Nursing Foundation of Shri G.H. Patel School and College of Nursing organized Inter-University Poster Competition on World Health Day, Theme: Our Planet, Our Health on date 7th April 2022 at Shri G.H. Patel School and College of Nursing for students of different nursing institutes from Kheda & Anand district. A total of 36 students participated from Shri G.H. Patel School and College of Nursing constituent institute of Bhaikaka University, B.N. Patel Institute of Nursing, Dinsha Patel College of Nursing, and Zydus School of Nursing, a constituent institute of Sardar Patel University. The external judge was Mrs. Sonal Patel (Principal, Zydus School of Nursing), and the internal judge was Mrs. Shany Thomas, (Professor, Shri G.H. Patel School and College of Nursing, Karamsad) for the Poster Competition.

The Webinar was on the of theme WHO day 2021 ‘Building a fairer, Healthier world'. Dr. Samta Soni, Assistant Professor, Govt. College of Nursing, Jaipur, Dr. Utkarsh Patel, Associate Professor, PSM department of PSMC, and Ms. Darshana Suthar, Nursing tutor, Shri G.H. Patel School and College of Nursing, Karamsad were the esteemed speakers of the day.
Dr. Samta Soni enlightened the participants about Social Determinants of Health Equity and Health inequalities, government programs for better health of citizens, and progress in the field of health.
Dr. Utkarsh Patel stressed the healthy lifestyle and basic measures to adhere to be healthy and to get rid of diseases like the COVID pandemic. Mrs. Darshna Suthar shared her in-depth knowledge of preventive measures and aspects of health inequality. More than 150 participants attended the webinar through zoom and via youtube link. The Expert talk started with the introduction of the theme "Groundwater: Making the invisible visible". The esteemed speaker of the day was Er. Mehul Patel, Retd. Training Co-ordinator & Deputy Executive Engineer, Water and Land Management Institute (WALMI), Anand, Gujarat.
He imparted great knowledge to the participants with his expertise in water conservation and management in which he included some basic facts regarding the water on earth, world water resource distribution, water used sector-wise, and water scenario in India and Gujarat.
More than 200 participants including faculty and all students of Shri G.H. Patel School and College of Nursing, Karamsad benefited from the expert talk.
Community Health Nursing Department of Shri G H Patel School and College of Nursing, Karamsad (A constituent of Bhaikaka University) hosted an Expert Talk as a part of the world Tuberculosis Day celebration on 4th April 2022.
The Expert talk started with the introduction of the theme “Invest to End TB. Save Lives”. The esteemed speaker of the day was Dr. R. R. Fulmali, District TB Officer, Anand.
He imparted great knowledge to the participants with his expertise in the National Tuberculosis Elimination Program. He even included the current scenario of the TB burden in India and the World, sustainable development goals, and new initiatives in the National TB Elimination Program.
More than 120 participants including faculty and students from Second Year B.Sc. Nursing, Fourth Year B.Sc. Nursing, First-year DGNM, and Second-year DGNM of Shri G H Patel School and College of Nursing, Karamsad benefited from the expert talk.
Shri G H Patel School & College of Nursing celebrated the Annual sports and cultural program named “UMANG”, organized by SNA & Co-Curricular committee from march, 23rd to 25th 2022 by holding various competitions. The opening ceremony was graced by chief guests Ms.Shweta Parmar, Gujarat’s first women skydiver, Dr.Ashok Nair, Academic Controller, Bhaikaka University, Dr.Sulabh, Vice-Principal, LPPIMLT, Mrs.Raksha Parmar, Principal, GHPSCN held on 23rd March at 9:00 AM. Mr.Smit and Mr.Ridham, Alumni of GHPSCON (Batch-2017-2021) were invited as sports referees for 2 days of the sports event. Moreover, on the 3rd day, a cultural event was held where various cultural activities were performed by students. Mr.Panth Patel, Choreographer, PDX Dance Studio was invited as Judge for the dance competition, Mrs.Raksha Parmar, Principal, GHPSCN judged the singing competition, Mr. Sunny Parmar and Ms. Shiney Christy faculty of GHPSCN judged the Mr. and Ms.SNA competition. All the students participated enthusiastically in each competition. All judges appreciated the performance and hard work of the students. Winners of each competition were declared by judges. At last, Ms. Sakshi Patel delivered a vote of thanks to the judges, all the students, participants, winners, and faculties for completing the event successfully.
Shri G.H. Patel School and College of Nursing, a constituent of Bhaikaka University organized International Midwife Day hosted by IQAC and OBG Department. The introduction was given to all the panellists. Panelists were Ms.Ami Menon, Lecturer Class-II, GINERA Ahmedabad, Ms.Bhanuben Gheewala, In-charge Sister, Midwifery led Care Unit, SSG Hospital Vadodara, Raksha Parmar, Principal GHPSCN Karamsad, Organising Chairperson, Vandana Shrimali Head OBG Department GHPSCN Karamsad Organising Secretary. The theme of International Midwife Day was “Follow the Data: Invest in Midwives”. Ms.Ami Menon discussed how to empower midwives, leadership to strengthen midwives, identify weaknesses, and provide women-centered care to bring change thus mortality and morbidity of women can be reduced and the health of the new born can be at optimum level. Ms.Bhanuben Gheewala shared how they are maintaining women's health during the COVID pandemic and have separate departments. She shared that she even brings hot water with lemon juice and ginger juice for the postnatal mother during this covid pandemic. And gave rapid tests for newborns as soon as they are born. Ms. Raksha Parmar explained regarding role and responsibilities of the nursing institute. Ms.Vanadana Shrimali explored the theme and explained that a healthy mother gives a healthy baby. Delivered the key messages for strengthening the midwife role. The total number of participants was 60. The panel discussion was very interesting and all participants benefited e-certificate were given to all.
Shri G.H Patel School and College of Nursing celebrated International Women's Day organized by Women Development Cell on March 8, 2022. The theme of the day was "#BreakTheBias". Ms.Vandana Shrimali, Assistant Professor delivered the welcome address. Students and faculty participated enthusiastically in various activities viz. solo singing, group singing, theme-based speech, skit, poetry narration, and fashion show. A vote of thanks was delivered by Ms. Praneeta Christian. The skit was played by students at N. R. Patel B.Ed. college, Karamsad. On this occasion, Shri G.H. Patel School & College of Nursing launched the FB LIVE Series of Talks. Guest speaker Dr. Sublbha Natraj addressed the viewers regarding "#BreakTheBias". Total of 426 viewers joined the Facebook live session.
Bhaikaka University, Karamsad celebrated the 73rd year of India’s Republic day This year Shri G. H. Patel School and College of Nursing, Karamsad organized a Republic day celebration function. On this occasion Provost of Bhaikaka University Dr. Utpala Kharod, Principal, K M Patel Institute of Physiotherapy, Dr. R. Harihara Prakash, PSMC Dean Dr. Himanshu Pandya and Principal, GHPSCON, Mrs. Raksha Parmar and other members of BhaiKaka university were present.
The chief guest Dr.Himanshu Pandya Dean, PSMC hoisted the tricolor flag and received the ceremonial parade salutation followed by the National Anthem. During their speech, they reminded the sacrifices of people in the freedom struggle. They saluted all the healthcare professionals across the globe for their untiring efforts in rendering their services during this pandemic and prayed for a corona-free world.

Shri G. H. Patel School and College of Nursing (A Constituent of Bhaikaka University) has celebrated International Nurses Day -2021 hosted by IQAC and the Department of Fundamentals of Nursing has held a Panel discussion on May 12, 2021. Theme “ A VOICE TO LEAD-A VISION FOR FUTURE HEALTH CARE” under the guidance of Ms.Raksha Parmar Principal Shri G. H. Patel School and College of Nursing. The welcome address was given by Mr.Shailesh Panchal Professor Shri G. H. Patel School and College of Nursing. The panelist was Dr. Suresh Sharma Principal and Professor, College of Nursing AIIMS, Rishikesh, Ms. Sonal Pandya lecturer of CL-II government of Nursing, Surat, and Ms.Nila Darji Assistant professor. Dr. Suresh Sharma shared that in India the practical aspect is not grown as much as the academic, converting theory to practical teaching is very effective to bring the competency of the student nurse. Highlighting that there should be reform in the practical expertise 3-year curriculum should be changed to increase the competency-based education, clinical nurse specialist is required for the nurse to practice independently, policies should be made properly and added nurses should be there in parliament should that all problems can be solved. Ms. Nila Darji added the reason why nurses are migrating for low remuneration in India, is the inappropriate working environment she added to increase holistic care. Ms. Sonal Pandya added a glimpse that there is a psychological problem while dealing with a patient shortage of staff, and resources, fear of long hours of duty, emotional disturbances, isolation, separation from a loved one and how to overcome it and added manage resources, motivate staff by rewards, working bonding, taking care of mental health and also added that mind refreshment technique should be there for the staff in the working area, delegation of work assignment to be there to the capable employee to reduce the stress. Mr.Raksha Parmar suggested that regarding that mental health be to added in INC curriculum. The first rank secured by Ms. Khushi Macwan TYBSc GHPSCON, the second is secured rank is secured by Ms.Riya S Patel FYBSc GHPSCON, and the third position is secured by Mr.Prayerson Parmar FYBSc GHPSCON in the essay competition. The first rank was secured by Ms.Mansi Patel GCS college of nursing, the second rank secured by Ms. Hemangini Makwana FYBSc, GHPSCON, third rank secured by Ms. Anjali Patel SYBSc GHPSCON was secured in the poster competition. The total number of participants was 100. All of the audience gained knowledge and had a clear concept regarding nursing care to be given to the patient.
