Shri G H Patel School & College Of Nursing celebrated Christmas, organized by SNA & Co-Curricular committee on December, 28th 2021 by holding various competitions viz Christmas OR New Year Card Making, Christmas Tree making, and Western Attire. Mr. Silambarasan A, critical care educator, SKH, Ms. Reshma D Ramanuj, vertical head of the cardiac centre, SKH, Ms. Dipti Engineer, and senior staff nurse of the oncology department were invited as judges. All the students participated enthusiastically in each and every competition. Judges appreciated the performance and hard work of the students. winner of each competition was declared by judges. Moreover, Christmas meet & Garba were held followed by delicious refreshments. At last, Ms. Raksha Parmar Principal, GHPCON delivered the vote of thanks to the judges, all the students, participants, winners, and faculty members for the successful completion of the event.
The organization of an exhibition on the newborn week celebration, demonstration of breastfeeding techniques, and screening of newborns was done from November 15 to November 20 by Ty BSc and fourth-year BSc nursing students. It was initiated with an introduction related to the celebration and followed by the inauguration ceremony. The beneficiaries were antenatal, postnatal, and eligible couples. The total number of participants was 40 each day. Live demonstrations of KMC and mummy restraint and breastfeeding techniques were taught to the beneficiaries. Feedback was taken. It was highly appreciated by the health professionals.
Shri G.H. Patel School & College of Nursing celebrated World Diabetes Day on November 11th, 2021. The theme of the day is “ACCESS TO DIABETES CARE”. On this day an expert session was organized by the Medical-Surgical Nursing Department & the guest speaker was Dr. Punam Bhende, Assistant Professor, PSMC. She was enlightened regarding diabetic foot examination. Introduction & Vote of thanks delivered by Ms. Rachana Chauhan. The beneficiaries were the students of TYB.SC. Nursing, Final year B.sc Nursing & TYDGNM interns. A total number of participants was 55. The session was completed successfully.

Aarti thali competition, Rangoli competition, Mehandi competition & Traditional attire competition. Judges of the competitions are Dr. Manisha Gohel, PAA secretary, PSMC, Dr. Shweta Parikh, Associate professor, KMPIP, Ms. Dipal Bhatt, Assistant professor, LPPMLT as external judge and Ms. Vaishakhi Thakkar, Ms. Darshana Suthar, Ms. Disha Anjana, Ms. Tejal Virola & Mr. Sunny Parmar are the internal judges of the various competitions. All the students participated very enthusiastically in each & every competition. Judges have appreciated the efforts of the students and their hard work. Ranks are given to the winner of particular competitions. Furthermore, Diwali meet & Garba were held followed by delicious refreshments. Faculty and students of T.Y.BSc Nursing of Shri G.H Patel School and College of Nursing (A Constituent of Bhaikaka University) celebrated World’s Mental Health Day 2021 on 11th, October 2021 in collaboration with the Psychiatric Department of PSMC. The event started with prayer and lamp lighting and welcoming the guests. Professors Dr. Himanshu Sharma and Dr. Ankur Mahida were the guests at the celebration.
Dr. Himanshu Sharma enlightened regarding the theme of this year ’Mental health in an unequal world’ and described the effects of 2nd wave of covid and its effects on the financial aspects of individuals and hence leading to depression was followed by Dr. Ankur Mahida focussed on stigmas and discrimination related to mental health and proper treatment to be given irrespective any aspects. Highlighted Rich becomes rich and the poor become poor. The beneficiaries were T.YBSc and FYGNM students. Students performed role plays, dance, and video and poster showcases reflecting the slogan of this year. “Mental health for all let's make it a reality”. In the end, Ms. Tejal Virola delivered the vote of thanks. The total number of participants was 74. The winner of the poster competition is Ms.Krisha Patel T.Y.BSc Nursing. The event was a great success!!
Integrated Management of Neonatal and Childhood Illness training was organized for Third Year Basic B.Sc. Nursing and Second Year Diploma in General Nursing Midwifery of Shri G.H Patel School and College of Nursing. The training was for 3 consecutive days August 18, 2021- August 20, 2021, from 8 am to 5 pm. The training started with an introduction given by Mrs. Nila Darji. The facilitators for the training were Mrs. Princey Mol and Mrs. Deepika Das. The training focused on the various objectives to prevent illness, promote the health of the child under 5 years of age, identify the symptoms and classify the child, and provide treatment according to the classification. Then it proceeded with explaining the integrated management of 0-2 months children regarding bacterial infection, diarrhea, dehydration, and various problems in breastfeeding by frequently giving examples, and by showing videos as per the training module of IMNCI. Students have done role play on assessment of children as per given scenario and further integrated management of children with the age of 2 months to 5 years old regarding fever with a stiff neck, malnutrition, anemia, and immunization. Scenario-based exercises and pictures were given to students for comparing the color code identification for its classification, assessment, and management. The quiz was conducted for students and all participated enthusiastically. Lastly, feedback was taken from the students. The training was completed successfully.

Shri G.H. Patel School & College of Nursing, Bhaikaka University has organized the Nutrition Practical for F.Y. GNM & F.Y. B.Sc. Nursing students as a part of their theoretical knowledge execution in practice. The event was organized from 09/8/2021 to 11/08/2021, Time: 8 am to 1 pm, and Organized by Mrs. Ekta H. Patel, Ms. Renkina Macwan, and Mrs. Swati Jadav. The objectives of the program are to introduce the nursing student to clinical dietary and nutritional principles, make students understand the role of nutrition for proper growth and development as well as maintenance of health, prepare a balanced diet preserving all the nutrients in the food following cookery principles, prepare the therapeutic diet for different age groups and with different disease conditions, prepare and serve simple yet different types of food. On each day 2 groups prepared the recipes and presented them at the end. 8:00 am to 12:00 pm preparation time for the allotted recipe. 2:00 pm to 1:00 pm presentation of recipes for the nutritional values, the cooking method used during preparation, and methods of nutrient preservation. Day-1 students prepared beetroot thepla in mixed flour, raagi sukhadi, Mix veg chilla in mixed flour, and Fada laapsi. Day 2 students prepared bottle gourd muthia, sprouts salad, veg. upama, kuler, shallow fried brinjal. Day -3 students prepared chicken soup, chicken biryani, vegetable salad, egg salad, egg bhurji, and paratha. The session was completed successfully.
Postgraduate students of Shri G.H.Patel School and College of Nursing, a constitute of Bhaikaka University held 2 days Vocational Guidance Program under the guidance of Mrs. Raksha Parmar, Principal, GHPSCN on 10th and 11th August 2021 at 11 am to 1 pm for internships students of B. Sc. Nursing and GNM. The webinar was held through the Zoom platform. The theme of VGP was “ Career opportunities after Nursing and Professionalism”. Internship students of B. Sc. Nursing and GNM of various institutions across Gujarat were invited to attend the VGP.
On the first day, Alumni of KAA, Mrs.Vrutti Patel, Asst. Professor of Sumandeep College of Nursing and Ms.Bhavisha Patel, RPN in Canada were invited to share their expert knowledge in the areas of ‘Scope of Nursing Nationally and Internationally. Ms.Bharti Bhatt, MSN, BSN, RN from Jupiter Academy imparted information regarding the scope and process of nursing jobs in the USA, Australia, and the UK. All these sessions were very informative and interactive. A total of 93 people attended the sessions on the first day. The first day ended with a vote of thanks, delivered by Mrs.Darshana Suthar, Nursing Tutor.
On the second day, Mr.Nigam Madan, HR Manager, BU Karamsad conducted very important sessions viz Professional Communication, IPR Skill, Interview Technique, and Resume Preparation. Prof. Shailesh Panchal, Vice Principal cum Professor, GHPSCN conducted a session on the importance of professional memberships in the professional carrier and its process of registration. A total of 80 people attended the sessions on the second day. The second day ended with a vote of thanks, delivered by Ms.Sharon Raj, Nursing Tutor, and received feedback from the participants.
A Department of Child Health Nursing of Shri G.H Patel School and College of Nursing (a constituent of Bhaikaka University) organized World's Breast Feeding week for 2 days August 2, 2021, & August 3, 2021, under the guidance of Principal Mrs. Raksha Parmar. Students of T.Y.BSc and SYDGNM Nursing students sensitized a total of 65 people regarding Breastfeeding, its technique, the mother’s preparation, importance to mother and baby, and IMS act and concerns through beautiful poster exhibitions and skits. All the activities are highly appreciated by participants, PHC staff, and Shree Krishna Hospital staff.
The WDC Unit of Shri G.H. Patel School and College of Nursing celebrated International Yoga Day 2021 on the theme: “BE WITH YOGA, BE AT HOME” from June 21, 2021, to June 26, 2021, as ‘YOGA WEEK’. Yoga sessions were conducted by the nursing faculty and students during the mentioned period. Faculty performed yoga every day in the morning for 45 minutes from 9:00 am to 9:45 am following the video released by the Ministry of Ayush Dept of India.
A total of 10 faculty participated in a yoga session, held by Bhaikaka University on June 21, 2021, at the Badminton court. During that session, Ms. Shivani Patel, a student of S.Y.BSc nursing, also performed various difficult postures of yoga which was very impressive.
A total of 30 students and 8 faculty practiced yoga daily for a week in college settings.
A total of 40 students demonstrated Yoga and its benefits at various places viz. Mental hospital Vadodara, CHC Ras, Karamsad PHC, and Nursing College. A total number of 61 people attended a yoga session during this week.
A few simple asanas and pranayama were selected to demonstrate which were performed by students at various
clinical settings after the one-day induction training provided by Ms. Shivani Patel.

IQAC committee of Shri G H Patel School and College of Nursing, A constituent of Bhaikaka University, Karamsad celebrated world environment day by organizing a student panel discussion on the theme: Ecosystem restoration between 9 a.m. to 11 a.m. through Zoom platform. Students of F.Y. B.Sc. Prayerson Parmar and Hemanshi Patel, S.Y.B.Sc. Drashti Patel and Ruhi Patel and FYDGNM Aatish Parmar and Tulsi Ghelotar enthusiastically participated as panelists in this event and shared valuable information on restoring the ecosystem by imparting knowledge on various measures to make the home environment healthy, the impact of improper disposal of sanitary pads, PPE Kit affecting the environment, issues on addressing losing access of fertile soil and safe drinking water, local level awareness on ecological restoration, effect on health topics like Conservation of the ecosystem, Pollution affecting the ecosystem, Measures to control the pollution, resetting the relationship with the environment. Institute also arranged various competitions like “Best out of Waste (recycling and reusable material)” and making “Bird Houses”, students wholeheartedly participated in these competitions and displayed their very creative nature in restoring the ecosystem through various ideas. The event ended by announcing the winners of this competition by Mr.Shailesh Panchal.
The “SENSITIZATION PROGRAM ON SELF-DEFENCE” was organized on 1st March 2021 to 6th March 2021 by IQAC and the WDC unit of Shri G. H. Patel Schools and College of Nursing.
The inaugural session was held on 1st March 2021 Dr. Pragya Nair WDC-Convener was the guest of Honour. The program was inaugurated with lamp lighting by Dr. Pragya Nair Convener-WDC, Dr. Mainisha Gohel, Vice president- PramukhSwami Alumni Association and Member- WDC-BU, Mrs. Raksha Parmar Principal & member-WDC, Mr. Shailesh Panchal IQAC Coordinator and student representatives of each batch.
Following the inauguration, Dr. Pragya Nair – convener of WDC addressed the gathering that how self-defense (with their tips and tricks) is important for girl students and Its importance and how it helps women employees and girls students in their development.
At the end of the inaugural session, Ms. Renkina conveyed a vote of thanks to Dr. Pragya Nair – convener of WDC, and all respected WDC- members for their valuable presence and support.
The whole program was run for one week. All the girl's students of F.Y. M.Sc. Nursing, F.Y. BSc. Nursing, S.Y. B.Sc. Nursing, T.Y. B.Sc. Nursing, F.Y DGNM, and S.Y. DGNM were divided into 3 groups due to covid-19 guidelines. A total of 136 girls students participated enthusiastically.
Two hours for two days were allotted to each batch. Every first day of the session students was sensitized about self-defense- definition, importance, and various strategies by Ms. Renkina Macwan. On the second day, an expert was invited from the activity centre Mr. Ajaykumar Damor. He demonstrated various tricks and basic moves of boxing.
Ms. Renkina conveyed a vote of thanks to Mr. Sanjay and Mr. Ajaykumar for sparing their valuable time to demonstrate tricks of self-defense for the girl's students.
Shri G.H. Patel School and College of Nursing ( A constituent of Bhaikaka University) celebrated lamp lighting and oath-taking ceremony for the 41st batch of DGNM and 7th Batch of B.Sc. Nursing students. The event was celebrated in the august presence of Dr. A.U. Patel, Advisor (Knowledge Consortium of Gujarat, Ahmedabad), Mrs. Vandana Dabhi, Principal of Urmila Goswami College of Nursing and esteemed member of Kadambari Alumni Association, Provost - Bhaikaka University - Dr. Utpala Kharod, Registrar - Bhaikaka University - Dr. Harish Desai, Dean - PSMC - Dr. Himanshu Pandya, Principal - KMPIP - Dr. Harihara Prakash, IAQC Co-ordinator Mr. Shailesh Panchal, Faculty, students and parents.
A total of 67 students took a pledge followed by the ignition of candles by the dignitaries. Oath swearing was done by students guided by the Principal, Mrs. Raksha Parmar. Later on, students sang a nurse song and paid tribute to Ms. Florence Nightingale – A pioneer of the nursing profession. Due to the COVID pandemic, the whole event was conducted in hybrid mode using the zoom platform and made it live through youtube streaming. A total of 369 viewed the ceremony through youtube and 20 invitees joined the session through the Zoom platform.
Mrs. Vandana Dabhi addressed and motivated students to be competent nurses as well as provide nursing care to all patients using 3 H i.e Head, Heart, Hand. She shared her experiences at GHPCN as a student, later as a staff nurse at SKH, and as a nursing tutor at GHPSN. She congratulated the novice trainee nurses.
Chief Guest Dr.A.U Patel advised the students to focus on health targets, and also on mastering skills related to the course. He stated that nurses have a leading role in society and they are responsible for the maintenance of the health of society. He emphasized following ethical values and virtues while practicing as they pledged. Furthermore, He congratulated and appreciated the institution and Bhaikaka university for imparting quality education in the field of health and motivated them to maintain the same.
Dr. Utpala Kharod delivered her preceding speech and motivated the nursing students to set their goals high and strive to achieve them. She also said that nurses are the most important members of the health care team and congratulated students for their professional beginnings.
Students were awarded for their best academic performances also.
Programme ended with the national anthem.
IQAC and WDC unit of Shri G.H Patel School and College of Nursing (A constituent of Bhaikaka University) conducted two days of orientation sessions on the Women Development Cell of Bhaikaka University through the zoom platform on August 1 & August 3, 2021, by Ms.Vandana Shrimali under guidance and support of Dr. Pragna Nair and Mrs. Raksha Parmar, members of WDC-BU. Beneficiaries were First-year DGNM, First Year BSc Nursing, Second Year BSc Nursing, Second Year DGNM, and faculty of GHSCN. A total of 135 participants attended the session. Women development cells, objectives, activities, the hierarchy for approaching if any problem arises, and members involved in this cell from constituent institutes, were the main attractions of the sessions. Faculty and students were given the opportunity to share their valuable suggestions for strengthening the WDC.
IQAC and Community Health Nursing Department of Shri G.H. Patel School and College of Nursing, Karamsad( A constituent of Bhaikaka University) hosted a Webinar as a part of the celebration of World Health Day 2021 on April 8, 2021.
The Webinar was on the of theme WHO day 2021 ‘Building a fairer, Healthier world'. Dr. Samta Soni, Assistant Professor, Govt. College of Nursing, Jaipur, Dr. Utkarsh Patel, Associate Professor, PSM department of PSMC, and Ms. Darshana Suthar, Nursing tutor, Shri G.H. Patel School and College of Nursing, Karamsad were the esteemed speakers of the day.
Dr. Samta Soni enlightened the participants about Social Determinants of Health Equity and Health inequalities, government programs for better health of citizens, and progress in the field of health.
Dr. Utkarsh Patel stressed the healthy lifestyle and basic measures to adhere to be healthy and to get rid of diseases like the COVID pandemic. Mrs. Darshna Suthar shared her in-depth knowledge of preventive measures and aspects of health inequality. More than 150 participants attended the webinar through zoom and via youtube link. The introduction was given to all the panellists. Panelists were Ms.Ami Menon, Lecturer Class-II, GINERA Ahmedabad, Ms.Bhanuben Gheewala, In-charge Sister, Midwifery led Care Unit, SSG Hospital Vadodara, Raksha Parmar, Principal GHPSCN Karamsad, Organising Chairperson, Vandana Shrimali Head OBG Department GHPSCN Karamsad Organising Secretary. The theme of International Midwife Day was “Follow the Data: Invest in Midwives”. Ms.Ami Menon discussed how to empower midwives, leadership to strengthen midwives, identify weaknesses, and provide women-centered care to bring change thus mortality and morbidity of women can be reduced and the health of the new born can be at optimum level. Ms.Bhanuben Gheewala shared how they are maintaining women's health during the COVID pandemic and have separate departments. She shared that she even brings hot water with lemon juice and ginger juice for the postnatal mother during this covid pandemic. And gave rapid tests for newborns as soon as they are born. Ms. Raksha Parmar explained regarding role and responsibilities of the nursing institute. Ms.Vanadana Shrimali explored the theme and explained that a healthy mother gives a healthy baby. Delivered the key messages for strengthening the midwife role. The total number of participants was 60. The panel discussion was very interesting and all participants benefited e-certificate were given to all.
Shri G. H. Patel School and College of Nursing (A Constituent of Bhaikaka University) has celebrated International Nurses Day -2021 hosted by IQAC and the Department of Fundamentals of Nursing has held a Panel discussion on May 12, 2021. Theme “ A VOICE TO LEAD-A VISION FOR FUTURE HEALTH CARE” under the guidance of Ms.Raksha Parmar Principal Shri G. H. Patel School and College of Nursing. The welcome address was given by Mr.Shailesh Panchal Professor Shri G. H. Patel School and College of Nursing. The panelist was Dr. Suresh Sharma Principal and Professor, College of Nursing AIIMS, Rishikesh, Ms. Sonal Pandya lecturer of CL-II government of Nursing, Surat, and Ms.Nila Darji Assistant professor. Dr. Suresh Sharma shared that in India the practical aspect is not grown as much as the academic, converting theory to practical teaching is very effective to bring the competency of the student nurse. Highlighting that there should be reform in the practical expertise 3-year curriculum should be changed to increase the competency-based education, clinical nurse specialist is required for the nurse to practice independently, policies should be made properly and added nurses should be there in parliament should that all problems can be solved. Ms. Nila Darji added the reason why nurses are migrating for low remuneration in India, is the inappropriate working environment she added to increase holistic care. Ms. Sonal Pandya added a glimpse that there is a psychological problem while dealing with a patient shortage of staff, and resources, fear of long hours of duty, emotional disturbances, isolation, separation from a loved one and how to overcome it and added manage resources, motivate staff by rewards, working bonding, taking care of mental health and also added that mind refreshment technique should be there for the staff in the working area, delegation of work assignment to be there to the capable employee to reduce the stress. Mr.Raksha Parmar suggested that regarding that mental health be to added in INC curriculum. The first rank secured by Ms. Khushi Macwan TYBSc GHPSCON, the second is secured rank is secured by Ms.Riya S Patel FYBSc GHPSCON, and the third position is secured by Mr.Prayerson Parmar FYBSc GHPSCON in the essay competition. The first rank was secured by Ms.Mansi Patel GCS college of nursing, the second rank secured by Ms. Hemangini Makwana FYBSc, GHPSCON, third rank secured by Ms. Anjali Patel SYBSc GHPSCON was secured in the poster competition. The total number of participants was 100. All of the audience gained knowledge and had a clear concept regarding nursing care to be given to the patient.
