Background/Functions/Objectives

The National Assessment and Accreditation Council (NAAC) recommends that every institution of higher education establish an Internal Quality Assurance Cell (IQAC) in accordance with the UGC twelfth plan guidelines for performance evaluation, assessment, and accreditation, and for quality up-gradation. Since quality enhancement is a continual activity, the IQAC will integrate into an institution's system and work to achieve quality enhancement and sustainability goals.

The Internal Quality Assurance Cell (IQAC) is the premier body of an institution, having the advisory role, which discusses academic matters and makes decisions and proposals for the principal in the formation of policies, regulations, and rules. The Institute of Nursing Sciences established IQAC in June 2020 with a focus on the continuous improvement and quality enhancement of various aspects of the institution.

STRUCTURE OF IQAC (As per UGC Guidelines) 

The IQAC shall be constituted under the chairmanship of the Principal. He/she may be assisted by a Coordinator who shall be a senior faculty member. This position may be held as an additional charge by the faculty member concerned, or a new position of a full-time Coordinator may be created and a person is selected and appointed or a senior faculty member is posted by redeployment.

COMPOSITION OF IQAC

The IQAC shall have the following composition :
a) Principal - Chairperson
b) Director / Coordinator - Member Secretary
c) Five senior teachers and one senior administrative official - Member

d) Two external experts on Quality Management/Industry/Local Community - Member 
e) One student representative & one alumni representative

  • The Principal of the College shall nominate the members in c) and d) of the above in consultation with the academic body of the College (Steering Committee of the Institution). The membership of such nominated members shall be for a period of two years. The IQAC should meet at least once a quarter.
  • The quorum for the meeting shall be two-thirds of the total number of members specifically external experts always present. The agenda, minutes and action taken reports are to be documented with official signatures and maintained electronically in a retrievable format.
  • The institutional IQAC shall report to IQAC – University.

 

FUNCTIONS OF IQAC
• Develop, implement, and monitor quality standards for the various academic and administrative activities of the institution
• Assist in developing a learner-centric environment conducive to quality education and faculty development as well as adopt the required competencies and technology for participatory teaching and learning process
• Document and disseminate information on the various quality parameters to the stakeholders
• Collect and analyse feedback from the stakeholders on quality parameters
• Organize collaborative workshops, seminars on quality-related themes as well as promote quality circles
• Coordinate quality-related activities of the institution, including the adoption and dissemination of good practices
• Maintain the institutional database through MIS for continuous monitoring and evaluation of quality initiatives
• Prepare the Annual Quality Assurance Report (AQAR) of the institute based on the quality parameters set by the relevant quality assurance body and submit it to University
