Dr. Utpala Kharod, former Dean of Pramukhswami Medical College, Karamsad has been appointed as Provost of Bhaikaka University. Dr. Harishkumar Desai, former Deputy Registrar of Charotar University of Science and Technology has taken charge as Registrar of the university.
Bhaikaka University was set up in September 2019 as per the Government of Gujarat, Education Department notification dated September 20. (The Gujarat Private Universities Amendment Act,2019 )The H M Patel Centre for Medical Care and Education, managed by the Charutar Arogya Mandal, has been conferred the status of a private University- Bhaikaka University with effect from September 25.
The Pramukhswami Medical College along with Shree Krishna Hospital, H M Patel Institute for Post Graduate Studies, K M Patel Institute of Physiotherapy, G H Patel School & College of Nursing, Smt L P Patel Institute of Medical Laboratory Technology, CAM Institute of Allied Health Sciences & Technology will be affiliated to the new Bhaikaka University. The new University is supported by Charutar Arogya Mandal, Karamsad established in 1971 working in the area of healthcare and education and was founded by the Late Dr. H M Patel, the former Finance and Home Minister of India.
With the experience of four decades in courses related to Health Professions Education, Medical Laboratory Technology, and Allied Health Science, with about 1300 students on the campus pursuing 57 different courses supported by more than 250 teachings and 1200 non-teaching staff. The H M Patel Centre for Medical Care and Education has been a centre of academic excellence. It has the necessary infrastructure for the academic and extracurricular development and growth of its students. It will work in the larger interests of society, to provide need-based educational programmes and contribute to the development of human resources for the health of the nation.
The Bhaikaka University will not only maintain all the existing educational programmes but would also initiate academic programmes in niche areas of medical specialties to provide job-oriented courses in a changing healthcare environment This recognition will help these institutes to introduce need-based courses to develop Human Resources for Health (HRH) in line with the vision of National Health Mission and bring about timely changes in course curriculum including assessment system. It also facilitates educational and research collaborations with institutions within India and abroad.
Integrated Management of Neonatal and Childhood Illness training was organized for Third Year Basic B.Sc. Nursing and Second Year Diploma in General Nursing Midwifery of Shri G.H Patel School and College of Nursing. The training was for 3 consecutive days August 18, 2021- August 20, 2021, from 8 am to 5 pm. The training started with an introduction given by Mrs. Nila Darji. The facilitators for the training were Mrs. Princey Mol and Mrs. Deepika Das. The training focused on the various objectives to prevent illness, promote the health of the child under 5 years of age, identify the symptoms and classify the child, and provide treatment according to the classification. Then it proceeded with explaining the integrated management of 0-2 months children regarding bacterial infection, diarrhea, dehydration, and various problems in breastfeeding by frequently giving examples, and by showing videos as per the training module of IMNCI. Students have done role play on assessment of children as per given scenario and further integrated management of children with the age of 2 months to 5 years old regarding fever with a stiff neck, malnutrition, anemia, and immunization. Scenario-based exercises and pictures were given to students for comparing the color code identification for its classification, assessment, and management. The quiz was conducted for students and all participated enthusiastically. Lastly, feedback was taken from the students. The training was completed successfully.

Department of Nursing Foundation of Shri G.H. Patel School and College of Nursing organized Inter-University Poster Competition on World Health Day, Theme: Our Planet, Our Health on date 7th April 2022 at Shri G.H. Patel School and College of Nursing for students of different nursing institutes from Kheda & Anand district. A total of 36 students participated from Shri G.H. Patel School and College of Nursing constituent institute of Bhaikaka University, B.N. Patel Institute of Nursing, Dinsha Patel College of Nursing, and Zydus School of Nursing, a constituent institute of Sardar Patel University. The external judge was Mrs. Sonal Patel (Principal, Zydus School of Nursing), and the internal judge was Mrs. Shany Thomas, (Professor, Shri G.H. Patel School and College of Nursing, Karamsad) for the Poster Competition.

Internship Nursing students (final year B.Sc nursing) of Shri G. H. Patel College of Nursing organized two days webinar on “Nursing management in COVID-19 at various points” for staff nurses on 27th and 28th July 2020 from 10 am to 12 pm under the guidance of Mrs. Raksha Parmar (Principal) and Ms. Disha Anjana (Tutor) as part of academic activity under subject Management of Nursing Services and Education. The topics covered were Pregnancy, childbirth postnatal care during COVID-19, Home care for people with suspected or confirm COVID-19, Infection prevention and control during health care when COVID-19 is suspected or confirmed, and care of pediatric patients, and breastfeeding during COVID-19. More than 40 staff nurses across the Anand district benefited from the session and clarified their queries.
Sensitization session on Importance of Iron Folic Acid Tablet
Women Development Unit of Institute of Nursing Sciences and Shri G.H. Patel School of Nursing has organized Sensitization session on "Importance of Iron Folic Acid Tablet on 30th December, 2022. The talk was arranged to sensitize the students and faculty regarding anemia and its prevention in regards to starting IFA tablet project for faculty and students of INS and GHPSN. The resource person, Dr. Manisha Gohel (Professor, Community Medicine Department, Pramukh Swami Medical College) has sensitized regarding anemia, National Iron Plus Initiative Programme. She illustrated nutritional anemia, prevalence of anemia and diet modification. She explained the benefit of Iron folic acid tablet on health. She motivated students to take Iron folic acid tablet as prophylaxis. Total 129 students and 10 faculty were sensitized through this session. The programme was ended with the vote of thanks. Students and faculty has given feedback that the session was interactive and effective and also they mentioned that overall the session was excellent and looking forward for positive outcome.

Panel Discussion on A Voice to Lead - A Vision for Future Healthcare by IQAC & Nursing Foundation Department of GHPSCN.
IQAC and WDC unit of Shri G.H Patel School and College of Nursing (A constituent of Bhaikaka University) conducted two days of orientation sessions on the Women Development Cell of Bhaikaka University through the zoom platform on August 1 & August 3, 2021, by Ms.Vandana Shrimali under guidance and support of Dr. Pragna Nair and Mrs. Raksha Parmar, members of WDC-BU. Beneficiaries were First-year DGNM, First Year BSc Nursing, Second Year BSc Nursing, Second Year DGNM, and faculty of GHSCN. A total of 135 participants attended the session. Women development cells, objectives, activities, the hierarchy for approaching if any problem arises, and members involved in this cell from constituent institutes, were the main attractions of the sessions. Faculty and students were given the opportunity to share their valuable suggestions for strengthening the WDC.
