Shri G. H. Patel School and College of Nursing celebrated World Diabetes day-2020 by hosting webinar on the theme ‘Diabetes: Nurses make the difference’ on November 20-21, 2020. The programme was organized by Department of Medical Surgical Nursing, GHPSCN in collaboration with Department of Medicine, Shree Krishna Hospital, Karmsad.

DAY-1: The webinar started on November 20 at 03:30 pm with the first session by Mrs. Nila Darji unfolding the theme. Second session was delivered by Dr. Jyoti Mannari and Dr. Punam Bhende on Self monitoring of blood glucose levels, Role of diet and exercise and Care of diabetes complication. The both the sessions were quite interactive and informative. Total 110 participants joined the sessions through Zoom and live Streaming on YouTube.

DAY 2: The first session on this day was by Ms. Nikita Chauhan on Nursing assessment, Nursing diagnosis, and intervention in diabetes care followed by Mrs. Anna Rao on Palliative care in diabetes.The last session was delivered by Dr. Jyoti Mannari and Dr. Punam Bhende on Insulin and devices for insulin administration and diabetic foot care. 157 participants attended the session.

An inter-collegiate essay competition was also held on the theme “Diabetes: Nurses makes the difference”. Students from across Anand District participated in the competition. Participants were appreciated by providing E-Certificates.

Faculty Development Cell, Shri G H Patel College of Nursing organized virtual workshop on Cardiac Arrest Resuscitation on October 20, 2020 from 11am - 1pm, in collaboration with project iCARE, Holy Family Hospital, Mumbai. The facilitators for the workshop were Ms. Sumaiya Raghavan, Operations Head, iCare and Mr. Anand Shrivastav, Project Director, iCare. The main highlights of the workshop were early identification of heart attack, performing CPR and use of AED. More than 100 participants including faculty and students benefited from the workshop and clarified their queries.

Shri G. H. Patel School and College of Nursing, a constitute of Bhaikaka University observed "World Mental Health Day" on October 10, 2020 by organizing a webinar on ‘Mental Health for all, Greater Investment - Greater Access’ by department of Mental Health Nursing. Eminent speakers of the day were Dr. Himanshu Sharma, HOD, Department of Psychiatry, Shree Krishna Hospital, Karamsad and Dr Ankur Mahida, Clinical Psychologist, SKH. They have enlightened the participants with their knowledge on the current scenario of COVID 19, its effects on mental health and measures to build positive mental health. Students from TY B.Sc Nursing and SY GNM benefited from the session. Students also participated in various theme based activities such as theme based video, doodle art, posters.

Internship Nursing students (final year B.Sc nursing) of Shri G. H. Patel College of Nursing organized two days webinar on “Nursing management in COVID-19 at various points” for staff nurses on 27 th and 28 th July 2020 from 10 am to 12 pm under the guidance of Mrs. Raksha Parmar (Principal) and Ms. Disha Anjana (Tutor) as part of academic activity under subject Management of Nursing Services and Education. The topics covered were Pregnancy, child birth post natal care during COVID-19, Home care for people with suspected or confirm COVID-19, Infection prevention and control during health care when COVID-19 is suspected or confirmed and care of pediatric patient and breast feed during COVID-19. More than 40 staff nurses across Anand district benefited from the session and clarified their queries.

Shri G H Patel School and College of Nursing organized a two days webinar on Vocational Guidance Program for nursing internship students on 14 th and 15 th July 2020 from 10am to 12pm. The topics covered were professional ethics and legality in nursing, scope of nursing in India and abroad, importance of professionalism, need for professional membership and interview techniques and preparation, which enable the interns to explore the world of choices available for making their career. More than 60interns across Anand district benefited from the sessions and clarified their queries with the experts.
