Overview :


The following departments are actively engaged in the nursing institution. The department was established in accordance with the Indian Nursing Council's guidelines and core subjects. Each department is responsible for the teaching and learning activities of its respective subject. The department has a nursing laboratory that is fully furnished and outfitted in accordance with the Indian Nursing Council's requirements. Departments promote and encourage outstanding performance in research and publication, teaching and learning, and professional services to institute stack holders.

Department Of Child Health Nursing

 

OBJECTIVES

The Department of Child Health Nursing will be accountable to

  • To prepare undergraduate and postgraduate students to be a compassionate pediatric nurses, competent nurse educators, researcher and administrators

  • To implement the curriculum-centered professional practice

  • To plan and implement procedures related to neonate and child health

  • To enhance the overall growth of the students by implementing theoretical knowledge into clinical skills towards children

  • To recognize the normal growth and development of children and deviation from the normal

  • To furnish comprehensive nursing care to normal and sick children

  • To focus on various neonatal and child health matters such as Neonatal resuscitation, IMNCI, Growth and development, KMC etc.

  • Provide various preventive, promotive, rehabilitative aspects in nursing care to the child in hospital and various community

 

FUNCTIONS

  • Department deals with teaching-learning activities related to child health nursing

  • Organize workshops/faculty development programs once a year

  • Participate in various professional activities such as being part of various professional organizations, participating in professional development programs etc.

  • Prepare and implement guidelines related to clinical supervision and clinical teaching of students

  • Department will be responsible to prepare and refine the evaluation criteria for respective procedures and clinical activities

  • Observe various health-related days and facilitate student participation in celebrating the health days as per the academic calendar

  • Introduce innovative teaching methods to provide a student-centered learning experience

  • Revise teaching manuals related to child health nursing as and when required

  • Ensure departmental/ collaborative research activities and publications at least once a year

  • Conduct scheduled departmental meetings three times a year and as and when needed

  • Supervise and manage the activities of child health nursing lab

 

LABORATORY OBJECTIVES

  • To aware students regarding the difference in adult and child related procedure

  • To make the students aware of regarding procedures related to child care

  • To increase efficiency related to basic need of child care

  • To ensure students regarding the principles of growth and development

  • To make them aware of different stages of growth and development

  • To make efficient in the skills of the procedure which are performed in children

  • To provide individualized training and feedback

 

LABORATORY GUIDELINES FOR THE FACULTIES

  • Faculty must complete the demonstration first following appropriate guidelines than re- demonstration will be done by students

  • After completion of the demonstration faculty must sign in the students’ procedure record book

  • After completion of the lab demonstration re-demonstration faculty must enter it into the utility register

  • Faculty must take attendance in lab register of the department

  • Prior Intimation should be given by the concerned faculty regarding demonstration in laboratory to any of the lab in-charge

  • Presence of faculty with the students is compulsory during the utilization of laboratory

  • The concern faculty has to do entry in the issue register for utilization of model, articles, equipment and charts etc.

  • The concern faculty has to do entry in the issue register in case of issuing any articles/equipment from the lab during examination

  • In Case of any requirement of lab articles for regular class teaching, it has to be always issued by responsible faculties

  • Concerned faculties are responsible and accountable for maintaining discipline and cleanliness at the time for utilization of laboratory

  • In case of any damage to the article/equipment, concern faculty will be responsible to provide damaged article from responsible students

  • The faculty whosoever occupy the lab for any event, function is responsible for the cleanliness and maintenance

  • If any misconduct found then reporting to in charge has to done. If not in time then faculty and student will be responsible

  • Faculty must return any articles issued from the lab by themselves

  • In absence of Lab In-charge 2 (Ms. Shiney Christy) articles has to be issued from Lab Incharge 1(Ms. Ravina Khristi)

  • In absence of both lab incharge 1 and lab incharge 2, responsible faculty has to approach and issue the articles from departmental head (Ms. Princey Raju) and responsible faculty has to draft a mail regarding issuing articles to inform Lab incharge 1 and Lab incharge 2

  • Faculties must approach Lab incharge/Head of the department only for issuing articles and should not take articles directly

  • Faculties can only accommodate 20 students at a time for demonstration/re-demonstration

  • Keys of cupboard must be taken from lab in-charges only or can be taken in presence of lab in- charges and should not be taken directly

  • Responsible faculties must submit the A4 page mentioning all the articles needed at least one day prior to issue the articles

  • In case of any missing articles, faculties has to submit it to lab within 15 days of issuing the articles

  • Articles issued by faculties for examination should be submitted to lab immediately after completion of examination or at most within 3 days of completion of examination

  • It is a responsibility of a faculty to replace the issued articles to its appropriate place like cupboards or drawers and should not be left outside

 

LABORATORY GUIDELINES FOR THE STUDENTS

  • Students can access laboratory at all time between 8 am to 5 pm

  • Students must have to maintain discipline in the lab during demonstration and re-demonstration

  • Student must maintain silence during demonstration and re-demonstration

  • Students must follow all rules and regulations of the lab

  • Students must maintain cleanliness of the lab

  • Students must rearrange the after utilization of the laboratory

  • Students should replace all articles/equipments/model/charts at appropriate place after utilization

  • Students must enter and sign in issue-return register in case of issuing any material from lab

  • It is a responsibility of students to maintain and handle each material with care

  • In case of any damage to article/equipment/chart/model etc. from the lab students have to submit similar material to lab or caution money will be deducted from students account

  • Student must not eat in the lab

  • Students must remove footwear before entering in the lab

  • Any electronic gadgets such as mobile/laptop/Bluetooth device/electronic watch are not allowed in the lab

  • No damage such as applying drawing to the mannequin, charts, models, equipment or articles is allowed

  • All lockers, cabinets or cupboards must be closed if not in use

  • Students must wear apron during laboratory demonstration and re-demonstration

  • Students must cut nails and tie hairs appropriately before entering into the lab

  • Students must have a notebook to note down important points

  • Any incident must immediately be notified to laboratory in-charge and concerned faculty

  • Students can issue articles/equipment/charts/model for classroom presentation

  • Students should not sit in beds available in lab

  • Students must follow all Covid related protocols and must maintain social distancing

  • Students should not unnecessarily gather at a laboratory
