Institutional Library Committees (ILC)

Library Committee had been constituted for the purpose of the smooth functioning of the library and coordination with all Heads of the Department, faculty members, students, and the management. A library committee is a body consisting of persons assigned the job of looking after the library.

OBJECTIVES :


  • To develop a collection of reading valuable material for various courses
  • To provide full information support to the teaching-learning process in the college
  • To provide various library services and facilities to the readers
  • To support research activity for its progress and qualitative development
  • To arrange a student forum to create awareness among the students
  • To resolve the student's complaints related to the library
  • To prepare the annual list of purchasing books, journals, rules, and regulations of the library
  • To decide and adopt policies to govern the management and programme of the library
  • To organize and disseminate Books and Journals
  • To Preserve and House the Collection for Posterity
  • To Enhance and Support the Academic Environment by Providing Seamless Access to the Information Resources.

APPLICABLE RULES :


  • All faculty, staff, and students of the institute are entitled to become library members
  • Membership is allowed only after submitting a duly filled-in and signed membership form, duly recommended by the principal or office in order of joining the institute. The members are supposed to be conversant with and agreeable to the library rules
  • Strict silence, decorum, and discipline must be maintained in the library. The use of cell phones is also not allowed
  • The Library will remain open from 9:00 AM to 5:00 PM, Monday to Friday, and 9:00 AM to 1:00 PM on Saturday. It will remain closed on all Sundays and Institutional holidays. Books will be issued only during these hours
  • Enter your name and sign in to the library user register kept at the entrance gate before entering in library
  • Students entering the library should not carry any other book, file, bag, or edible things. Students can enter with electronic devices eg. Laptops; with the permission of the librarian
  • Library staff is not responsible for the loss of any items kept by students in the library
  • All the library-eligible users will be provided with library cards (2 cards for students and 4 cards for faculty) which can be obtained from the librarian when admission is taken in the institute or the academic year starts. Do not fold, or alter entries made on the cards, Members are responsible for the entire set of library borrower cards issued to them
  • Return books/materials to their original location on the bookshelf
  • The Library cards should be deposited in the library once the membership ceases. i.e. on the completion of the programme or resignation
  • Make sure to return the borrowed items by the due date
  • In case any of the borrowed items are lost, damaged, or destroyed, you are required to replace the lost /damaged/destroyed thing with a new one
  • One book will be issued per library card to the authorized holder and for a maximum of 14 days the period from the date of issue. Books are to be returned on or before the due date. Penalty for not returning books on the due date would be as under Rs. 1/- per day up to the first three days and Rs. 5/- per day after that
  • The existing policy for late return of books will be continued. In addition, if they do not comply after repeated reminders, students may not be allowed to appear in internal / University exams
  • If a student lost his/her identity card during the study period, replacement charges of Rs. 135/- will be collected by the librarian. If a student has lost the card at course completion, Rs. 100/- fine will be charged

Responsibilities of Librarian:


  • Establish and implement library policies and procedures
  • Prepare and administer the budget for the library
  • Assists students with regard to Library books/ Journals
  • Issue/return of books ( Faculty& students)
  • Record of late fees and Internet charges
  • Stamping daily newspapers and magazines
  • Carries out the inventory and maintains the stock register.
  • Develop, organize, and maintain library collections to meet the demands of specific user groups
  • Select order and catalog relevant stationery.
  • Ensure a current and accurate inventory of library materials
  • Maintain records and prepare statistical and analytical reports
  • Assist users in the location of specific material and information
  • Maintain the record of in-time and out-time of users
  • Assist in INC / GNC/ Any other inspections.
  • To keep a record of all exam papers in soft copy.

SOP/ POLICY:


  • Treat Library property with respect. You will be charged for lost, stolen, or damaged items
  • Carry your student ID card with you when you enter the library
  • Never write in books or cut pages out of them, in such cases fresh latest edition copy of a particular book will be recovered
  • In the Absence of a librarian no one is allowed to enter the library.
  • Binding of the book to be done in regularly 2 years
  • For issuing of journal separate entry has to be done in that record book
  • There are some items that are non-issuable for students. The list is as followed - Question papers, Newspapers, Books which are kept in the reference section & Dissertation & archive journals
